Why Speech Therapy?

Speech therapy consists of techniques and activities aimed at improving overall communication.

Benefits of speech therapy include: 

  • Improved communication to be able to express thoughts and feelings

  • Improved understanding of language to be able to follow directions, comprehend information and problem solve

  • Helps the child understand that language has meaning and purpose to get their needs met and to connect with others

  • Aids development and use of various types of  communication types such as gestures, sign language, approximations, vocalizations, and/or other means of communication

  • Provides children without a voice a way to communicate through unaided and/or aided communication

  • Decreases frustration and increases self-esteem and independence to effectively communicate with peers and adults

  • Improves intelligibility, fluency and vocal quality
